A New View of God

Right now, we are waking up to the day after an election day. Some people are happy and relieved. Others are sad, bummed, or blue because they are not sure what the future holds. These emotions might even stay with us for a day, or weeks, and that is okay.

How do we process all this with a biblical worldview? How do we respond as Bible-believing, Christian women?

I heard a friend say this weekend, “I am going to let you be God.”

He said this in an effort to let go of his own preferences, opinions and suggestions on how to handle today. One might say, he relinquished control.

We can trust and lean on the 3 Omni’s of God.

  1. His omniscience: His all-knowingness

  2. His omnipresence: His ever-presence

  3. His omnipotence: His unlimited power and ability to do anything

I am going to lean into His omniscience. God knows all things, past, present and future; nothing surprises Him.

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.” Hebrews 4:11

"O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up;Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it."Psalm 139:1 -2, 6.

I am going to lean into His omnipresence. God is active and present in all places, at all times.

"Ah, Lord GOD! It is you who have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and by your outstretched arm! Nothing is too hard for you." Jeremiah 32:17

“Who has spoken and it came to pass, unless the Lord has commanded it? Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come?" Lamentations 3:37-38.

I am going to lean into His omnipotence. I depend on His power and faithfulness to His own nature (ex. He cannot lie).

I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things.” Isaiah 45:7.

“The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.” Proverbs 16:13.

Taking into account all of God's attributes being inseparable from each other and being content with that helps us move through our day and this time with confidence.

But what does our day look like if we assume the posture of, “I am going to let you be God."?

Since we cannot control many things, we often find relief in things we can. Right now, most of our homes have fewer ‘junk drawers’ prior to Covid 19, or, we contributed to the spike of clothing donations that surged by 40%. We can continue to do these things to improve our quality of life. But, with the soul stuff—challenges, disappointment, changing times —we must get out of bed each day with the mindset of...

“I am going to let you be God.”

Rest assured that He is all powerful, all knowing and ever-present moving right alongside you through this crazy year.
