I have some purses in the top of my closet that I don’t often use. I want to use those purses, but I just don’t think about it. If we have a fun place to go out to dinner; I might use it for a special occasion or a fun event that calls for sassy accessories but for my day to day life I don’t ever think about it or even think to use it. When I do switch out to use one of those purses, my posture changes for sure, it is the function of any good clothing or accessory, right?
Is this how we view the Holy Spirit? It is just there but we don’t access it or call on it. It just looms in the corner of our closet until we call on it. What if we think of the Holy Spirit as the Spirit of God? Would that make it easier to access? God created man (Gen. 1:27) and then man fell/sinned (Gen. 3). Then because God showed His love for his image bearers to such a great extent, He sacrificed His Son for our sin (Rom 8:32) but He did not stop there. Once His son left us (Acts 1), He sent us His spirit (1 Cor 2:12). God gave us His Spirit so we can have access to Him. His spirit teaches and reminds us what He has done for us. It is a Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord (Is 11:2).
He is a helper who will be us forever, He is known as the Spirit of Truth and He dwells with you and will be in you (John 14:15).
How often have we been on our knees crying or not wanting to get out of bed with the blues or just the chaos of life has caught up with us and we call out to the Lord with a “Help me…” and not followed with any specific request. See the Spirit intercedes on our behalf, “He knows when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar” (Psalms 139:2). Romans 8:26 tells us, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
See there is POWER in the Spirit. There is FREEDOM in the Spirit of the Lord.
Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Do you function in the freedom of the Holy Spirit right now? Or in the fear of this season?
We are all so over 2020. I mean like quit it, over it, done, bring the check!
The Holy Spirit offers a newness for some in your relationship with the Lord. Romans 7:6 reminds us that “we serve in the newness of the Spirit.” We can also say we have a new life in the freedom of God. That has to make you smirk and smile a little? We need some newness, fresh, unseen.
Let walk and talk with no more no more shackles, no more restraints, no more fear, no more desire to control everything, we are going to function in the newness and freedom of the Holy Spirit. Call on His Spirit ladies! He is here for you! He is for you! He wants you to prosper! #theHolyspiritisbetterthananypurse #womenoffriscofirst #betterwivesmomssistersandfriends
